Harvey Allen Smith

Harvey Allen Smith, 77, of Rogers passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in Rogers. He was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Viroqua, Wis., to Vladimir Buford and Merle Henthorn Smith; and served his country as both a Marine and Air Force veteran. For 30-plus years, he worked as a computer engineer for the Department of Defense prior to several years of service with Wal-Mart Headquarters. He was retired and enjoyed reading and playing cards in his spare time. He spent many years involved in the ministries of his church, and was a current member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a politicial activist. Most of all he loved the Lord and his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great pleasure and joy. Survivors include four children, Michelle (Kenn) Marshall of Rogers, Babette Murphy of Illinois, Sean (Katie) Smith of Rogers and Heather (Joel) Hurst of Rogers; and by grandchildren, Clorie (Tim) VanTuyl, Bryce and Brienna Murphy, Garrett, Harrison and Sydney Smith, and Ryan, Conner and Emma Hurst; and by four great-grandchildren, Destiny and Promise Dillion, and Bailey and Hannah VanTuyl. He was preceded by his parents; and three brothers, Larry, Gordon and Gary Smith. A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home chapel, with inurnment at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
