Sr. Mary Patricia O'Brien

Sr. Mary Patricia O'Brien, RSM, formerly known as Sr. Mary Euphrasia, who lived at McAuley Convent in Barling, Ark., died Oct. 12, 2013. She was born July 19, 1921, in Walco, Okla. She entered into the Sisters of Mercy, Sept. 6, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo., and made her final profession of final vows Aug. 16, 1945. She graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Mo., and then received her BSN from St. Mary's Xavier in Kansas in 1953. Sr. Patricia's ministry was in nursing administration and education from 1942-1971 in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Louisiana, and pastoral care from 1971-2001. She had a great respect and love for all those she served and met throughout her life. Sr. Patricia retired to McAuley Convent in Barling, Ark., in 2001. Sister Mary Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Ruth O'Brien; and two sisters, Mary Jane Dean and Gerry Trimp. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and her Sister of Mercy Community. Rosary will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral mass at 2 p.m. at McAuley Convent Chapel in Barling, Ark.
