Clyde Lee Roller

Clyde Lee Roller, of Alderson, Okla., died Oct. 4, 2013 in McAlester at the age of 78. Clyde was born to Alva and Mary (Cook) Roller, July 16, 1935 in Garfield, Ark. He graduated from High School in Garfield, Ark. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant after 17 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Clyde married Betty Joan Brewer in 1976 in Illinois. He worked for Quincy Paper Mill in Quincy, Ill. and then worked and retired as foreman from J.I. Case, heavy equipment manufacturing in Burlington, Iowa. He then worked for several years at a Farm King store in Burlington, Iowa before moving to Alderson. He was a member of the American Legion. Clyde enjoyed gardening vegetables, fishing and hunting. Survived by his wife Betty Roller of the home; sons, Rex Roller and wife, Pam of Palm Bay, Fla., Doug Roller and wife, Lisa of Cocoa, Fla., Jimmy Watkins and wife Darla, of Hartshorne, Okla., Robert Dale Watson and wife, Darlene of Virginia Beach, Va., John Watson and wife, George Ann of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Randy Watson and wife, Pam of Richland, N.C.; daughter, Tammy Stannard and husband, Ed of Jacksonville, N.C.; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Roller of Brooklyn, Iowa; sister, Peggy Davidson and husband, Willie of Rogers, Ark.; sister-in-law, Belle Roller of North English, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Funeral services will be: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at Chaney's Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Marine Corps. Arrangements entrusted to Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, Okla.
