Joe Mac Faddis

On Oct. 1, 2013, Senior Chief Petty Officer Joe M. Faddis USN (Ret.), was piped aboard ship by the Master Bo'sn for his voyage beyond the Great Horizon to the Home Port of Eternity where there are always "Fair Winds and Following Seas." Senior Chief Faddis was born Dec. 2, 1935, at Qualls, Okla., in what is now known as Camp Gruber. He was the eighth and youngest child of Joseph Milton and Junie (Marksberry) Faddis. He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandfather, Alexander Faddis of Scotland and Virginia; his great-grandfather, Thomas Faddis of Kentucky; his grandfather, Franklin Pierce Faddis of Qualls, Okla.; his parents, Milt and Junie Faddis; and six of his brothers and sisters, Sarah Elsie (Faddis) Fountain, Nettie Florence (Faddis) (Fountain) Huff, Haskell Squire Faddis, Ernest Ausie Faddis, Lee Franklin Faddis, B.D. (Pete) Faddis; his first wife, Mary Kathleen (Peters) Faddis of Norman, Okla.; and his second wife, Dorothy Annette (Petillo) Faddis of Ola, Ark., whom he was married to for 48 years and was the love-of-his-life. He is survived by his son (from his first wife, Kathleen), Joe M. Faddis Jr. USN (Ret.) and is now a high school teacher, and his wife, Dawn; his daughter (from his second wife, Annette), Shawna Christie (Faddis) Ford, who works alongside her husband, Phil, a local State Farm Insurance agent. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Tabitha Lynn Faddis USN, Naval aviator, Ryan Nathaniel Faddis, pharmacist, Kelsey Meagan Ford, high school teacher, Adam Zachary Ford, engineering student; his great-granddaughter, Lanikai Baylee Faddis; and his sister, Laverne Bernice Faddis. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. His remains will be cremated and the ashes buried alongside the ashes of his wife, Annette, in White Oak Cemetery at Qualls, Okla.
