Amy Glendyne McLeod Robins, 93, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 29th. She was the devoted wife of Harvy for 69 years who preceded her in death. Born in Cave City, Amy attended the College of the Ozarks where she played field hockey and received a teaching certificate. She first taught elementary school in 1939 for the Sharp County school system. She and Harvy moved to Searcy after the war where she began teaching elementary school. Amy completed her BA degree in Elementary Education through Harding College in 1949. They welcomed their only child, Bruce, in 1950, after which Amy took time off from teaching to be a full time mother. She resumed her teaching career in the early 60s and mentored many student teachers. She retired from teaching in the mid-70's. Amy became a Christian in 1945 and was a member of the Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School at the Downtown Church of Christ for 22 years. She was a charter member of the Red Bud garden club, volunteered with the American Cancer Society, Band Parents Association, the World Bible School, and many opportunities at Harding Place where she and Harvy resided in their later years. Amy was one of three children born to Adolphus H. McLeod and Viola Gilbert. Her siblings preceded her in death as did her grandson, Matthew Robins. In addition to her son, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patrice, granddaughter, Mandy Ouellette (Jason), great-grandson Jacob, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Amy requested that memorial donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Searcy Children's Homes, 208 E. Moore St., Searcy, Ark. 72143. Visitation at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel with Funeral Services beginning at 3 p.m.. Internment will be private.
