Glenda Loann Lacefield

Glenda Loann Lacefield, 66, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away peacefully on Sept. 28, 2013. In her final days she was surrounded by her loving family at Circle of Life Hospice Home, where she died of complications from COPD and emphysema. She was born on July 1, 1947, in El Reno, Okla., to Willard L. and Beulah Ola Lacefield. Glenda was raised in El Reno and attended Webster Elementary, Etta Dale Junior High and El Reno High School. She was most recently employed by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in Bentonville, Ark., where she held positions at the Wal-Mart Home Office and the Wal-Mart Layout Center. She was a receptionist for the Layout Center when she retired in 2009 due to her declining health. Throughout her lifetime, Glenda also worked in various positions in the retail, entertainment and construction industries. Glenda loved life, lived it to the fullest, and always had a twinkle in her eye and a sweet smile on her face to prove it. She enjoyed cooking, growing and canning vegetables, camping with her family, tending her many houseplants and sipping on an ice-cold Coke. More recently, she was content with watching her favorite classic TV shows like "Gunsmoke," "Andy Griffith" and "The Golden Girls," and going on the occasional shopping trip. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal sister and friend. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Shane Lee Erwin; her parents, Willard L. Sr. and Beulah Ola Lacefield; her brother, Willard Lee Lacefield; and her sister, Callie Beulah Lacefield. She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Cox and husband, Spencer, of Springfield, Mo.; her daughter, Jeanna Hix and fiance, Carl Moore, of El Reno, Okla.; her daughter, Leah Hill and husband, Jeremy, of Elizabeth City, N.C.; her daughter, Gail O'Neal and husband, Patrick, of Bella Vista, Ark.; and daughter, Amanda Ward and husband, Brian, of Centerton, Ark. She is also survived by grandchildren, Desirae Carroll and Danielle Carroll of Bentonville, Ark., Ethan Carroll of Tucker, Ark., Kilian Cox of Springfield, Mo., Casey Erwin, Tyler Erwin, Levi Erwin and Zachary Erwin, all of St. Robert, Mo., Deborah Wisniewski, Sarah Wisniewski and Joshua Wisniewski, all of Elizabeth City, N.C., Jordan Fetherolf of Houston, Texas, Brennon Fetherolf, Tanner Fetherolf, Zane Fetherolf and Noah Fetherolf, all of Bella Vista, Ark., Addison Ward and Jamison Ward of Centerton, Ark.; and great-grandson, Ryland Lassiter of Elizabeth City, N.C. Surviving siblings include, Gloria Bullock of Perry, Okla., Johnny Lacefield of Pea Ridge, Ark., Sheryl Knight of El Reno, Okla., and Cindy Lacefield-Brueggeman of Mustang, Okla. She is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews, over 100 great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at the El Reno First Church of the Nazarene, 910 S. Reno, El Reno, Okla. A graveside service will be held at the El Reno Cemetery immediately following the service. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Glenda's name to Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, AR 72712.
