Martin Goldstein died on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Martin was born on Aug. 23, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Martin is survived by his wife, Betty; his brother, Harry Goldstein (Susan) of Long Island, N.Y.; and his three sons, Dr. Scott Goldstein (Susan) of Anderson, Mo., Eric Goldstein (Diane Stotler) and Dr. Keith Stockerl-Goldstein (Karen) of St. Louis, Mo.; and two grandsons, Adam Goldstein of Huntsville, Ala., (son, Tyler, girlfriend, Nina Byrum), and Aaron Goldstein of Anderson, Mo. Martin was known and loved by all who shopped at Belk in Rogers. He started his career in merchandising as a buyer for Edison Brothers of New York. Edison transferred him to St. Louis where he and Betty raised their sons. They moved to Bella Vista in 1998 to be near their grandsons. Martin loved caring for his customers and continued to work until his recent illness. Martin and Betty were founding members of Congregation Etz Chaim in Bentonville. Following the Jewish tradition, Betty is sitting Shiva through Nov. 27 at her home. She can receive visitors during this time. A memorial service will be held on Jan. 18, 2014, at a location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Congregation Etz Chiam, P.O. Box 477, Bentonville, AR 72712.
