Edith Evalena Hackman, 83, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Nov. 20, 2013, at her home. Edith was born on Nov. 27, 1929, in Estherville, Iowa, to Monroe R. Brown and Margaret Pauline Simon Brown. They moved to northern Minnesota when Edith was 3 years of age. She married Bruce G. Hackman on July 15, 1961, in International Falls, Minn. Later she moved to Manitowoc, Wis., and worked for J.C. Penney for 19 and a half years. Bruce and Edith retired to Sulphur Springs in 1994. Edith is survived by two daughters, Connie (Jim) Christensen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Evalena Hackman of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, John (Dawn) Jacobson of Alto, Mich., Gerald Hackman of Valparaiso, Ind.; sister, Winona (Earl) Hanson of Redding, Calif.; brothers, Monroe Brown of Boston, Mass., Stanley Brown of Leesville, La., and Marty Ray Brown of Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Emily, Jason, Erik, Zachary, Mike, Rudy, Ray, Mindi (Dustin); seven great-grandchildren, Alex, JT, Kara, Michael, Jaelynn, Alyssa Marie, Sarah; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Arrangements by The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E.
