Stanley Merle Fitzgerald

Dr. Stanley Merle Fitzgerald, 75, of Bella Vista died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Doris Harris and Leon Fitzgerald. After serving in the National Guard, Dr. Fitzgerald graduated from Logan College in St. Louis and opened his practice in Ankeny, Iowa. His reputation brought patients from across the state. He was widely known throughout Ankeny due to his activities with the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. He also served on the board of education in Ankeny. He enjoyed antiquing, making crafts, walking and hiking, landscaping and spending time in the outdoors. He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area since 2004 after retiring and moving from Iowa. Stan is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Ann of over 50 years; and his parents. He is survived by two sons, Kevin Fitzgerald and his wife, Cari, of Ankeny, Iowa, Kurt Fitzgerald and his wife, Amy, of Olathe, Kan.; one daughter, Kim Fitzgerald of Ankeny, Iowa; one sister, Faye Jones; and five grandchildren, A.J., Leah, Chase, Austin and Carson.
