Max David Porter

Max David Porter, 76, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in Fayetteville. He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Marvin and Rosemond (Hagins) Porter. Max grew up in Carthage, Mo. After high school, he attended the University of Arkansas where he earned a B.S.B.A. in 1958 and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He spent his early adult years in Joplin, Mo., where he was involved in his family's car business (Porter Cadillac and Buick Inc.). Max married the love of his life, Susan Seabough, in 1974. Max and Susan moved to Tulsa, Okla., in 1982 where Max continued to work in the car business. Max and Susan retired to Fayetteville in April 2013. Max served in the U.S. Army as a 1st lieutenant. Max was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Julia Porter. He is survived by his wife, Susan Porter; two daughters, Laura Sampson and husband, John, of Covington, La., Allison McCrady and husband, Frank, of Porter, Texas; one son, Craig Shy and wife, April, of Fayetteville, Ark.; one brother, Ed Porter of Springfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, with Dr. Douglas Falknor officiating.
