David Lee Stonecipher

David Lee Stonecipher, 66, longtime Broken Arrow resident, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness. David was born in Harrison, Ark. He was the son of George Guy and Glena Ellen (Waltman) Stonecipher. David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary J. Stonecipher of Broken Arrow; brothers, Jack and wife, Mary, Johnny and wife, Johnita, all of Kansas, Okla.; sister, Virginia and husband, Dwight Neel, of Tulsa, Okla.; and brother-in-law, Bob and wife, Janet Schwabe, of Kansas, Okla. He leaves behind nieces and nephews, Jazmyne, Jonathan and wife, Season Stonecipher, of Kansas, Okla., Ashlee Pierce of Oklahoma City and Paul Schwabe of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant sister, Cheryl Denise; his niece, Patricia Louise Schwabe; and his parents. David was a 1964 graduate of Kansas, Okla., High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving stateside in Fort Meade, Md., receiving his discharge papers in December 1967. He returned home to marry his high school friend, the former Miss Mary J. Schwabe, on June 15, 1968, in Tahlequah, Okla. He was employed by Cities Service Oil and Gas Corporation for 22 years. David then began his own computer consulting firm, working until he was forced to take early retirement due to significant health problems. Mr. Stonecipher received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Tulsa in 1972. After graduation, he moved to Broken Arrow where he soon became a familiar face on Main Street as the original owner of S&S Hobbies. The Stonecipher family would like to thank the pastor, staff and members of St. Stephen United Methodist Church for their visits, comfort, compassion and prayer support during difficult days.
