Wanda Salyer Radcliffe

Wanda Salyer Radcliffe, 92, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the McGraw Center of Community Hospice of NE FL in Jacksonville, Florida. Born February 11, 1921, in Parma, Mo., she lived in Southeast Missouri until 1953, when she moved to Osceola, Ark. In 1968 she moved to Memphis, Tenn. where she resided for 28 years before relocating to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, in 1996. Wanda was an active member of every community in which she lived, taking leadership roles in her church as well as civic and arts organizations. Her incredible zest for living manifested in cooking, entertaining, gardening, reading, playing bridge, fishing, golfing, and a virtually inexhaustible drive to serve others. A lifelong Methodist, she was a founding member of Emmanuel Methodist Church in Memphis, Tenn. While in Memphis, she volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and Theatre Memphis. Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Lynne Radcliffe, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Anne Radcliffe Rogers (Weston) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, four grandchildren: Lauren Howard Sentuc (Xavier) of Paris, France, Geoffrey Howard (Anna) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Harrison Craft and Olivia Craft of Fayetteville, Ark.; three great-grandchildren: Etienne, Emmanuelle, and Raphael Sentuc of Paris, France, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. The last survivor of a large, loving family, she was preceded in death by her cherished identical twin sister, Mildred "Millie" Salyer Rolf, siblings Byron, Miriam, and Jack Salyer, Donah Salyer Burgess, and cousins with whom she and Millie were raised as siblings: Ritta Salyer, Eula Salyer Underwood, and Raymond, Louis, Claude, and Carl Salyer. A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 in the Chapel of Beach United Methodist Church of Jacksonville Beach where she attended 1996-2006.
