George J. Shepherd

George J. Shepherd, Jr. 80, of Hartman, passed away May 26, 2013. He was born April 6, 1933, in Coal Hill, to the late George Shepherd, Sr. and Emma (O'Brien) Shepherd. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955, attaining the rank of Corporal, he was retired from Tyson Foods, was a retired member of the Coal Hill Quadrille and a member of the Coal Hill Assembly of God Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Darby and Beatrice Parker; one brother, Joe Shepherd; and one granddaughter, Ashlond Morrow. Mr. Shepherd is survived by his wife, Hattie (Smith) Shepherd; four daughters, Blenda East and husband, Danny of Lowell, Carol Morrow and husband, Eddie Don of Hartman, Debby Estep and husband, Steve of Coal Hill and Mary Ann Marvel and husband, Rusty of Coal Hill; two sisters, Barbara Syfert and Emogene Capshew, both of Clarksville; nine grandchildren, Carrie Pelfrey, Dayla Field, Amanda Cuevas, Jeff East, Chris Estep, David Estep, Cortney Marvel, Triston Marvel and Jdon Morrow; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home. Mr. Shepherd's funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Coal Hill Assembly of God Church, with Bro. John Kindrix officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Hess Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff East, Chris Estep, David Estep, Triston Marvel, James Pelfrey, Brian Syfert, Ken Waterson and Jerry Parker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Cuevas, Jdon Morrow, Clayton East, Drew Curtis, Conner Estep, Mike Young, Larry Marvel, Don Estep, Terry Smith, Forrest Hoffer, Steve Accord, Ken Nelson, Gordon Sturdivant, Jody Brown, members of the Coal Hill Assembly of God Church and special employees of Tyson Foods.
