Joan Hand Robinson

Joan Hand Robinson, 83, of Springdale, Ark., passed away peacefully Friday, May 17, 2013, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark. Joan was born on Aug. 5, 1929, in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of Charles P. Hand and Lillian Gummel. She was a proud homemaker. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George S. Robinson; father, Charles; mother and step-father, Lillian and Albert Gummel; one brother, Edward Hand; and one sister, Grace McGrath. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine R. Jones and husband, Marvin of Springdale, Ark.; a son, John Robinson and wife, Karen of Londonderry, N.H.; four grandchildren, Chris Robinson, George Robinson, Brooke Robinson and Shea Robinson, all of N.H.; three step-grandchildren, Lisa Powers and husband, Neil of Barling, Ark., Jeff Jones and wife, Heather of Alma, Ark., and Whitney Jennings of Barling, Ark.; four step-great grandchildren, Sara Jennings of Fort Smith, Ark., Rachel Jennings of Greenwood, Ark., Erica Jones of Madison, Wisc., and Dustin Jones of Terre Haute, Ind.; one sister, Patricia Menke of Melbourne Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Committal service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark., with Chaplain Ronald Skaggs to officiate the service.
