Maudie Ann Vanhook, 75, of Springdale died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Shiloh Nursing and Rehab in Springdale. She was born Nov. 5, 1937, in Spring Valley to Clark and Jessie Rebecca Phillips Lawson. Maudie was a longtime member of Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities throughout the years. During her life, she worked at Jones Truck Lines, Dorman Clinic, Sisco Funeral Chapel, and lastly, at Heritage Funeral Home. She enjoyed gardening with her husband and together they were devoted to the care of their family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Calvin Vanhook in 2009. She is survived by three children, Jeff Vanhook and wife, Susan, Phil Vanhook and wife, Diane, Mileia Knight and husband, Greg, all of Springdale; a sister, Kathy Cherry and husband, Norman, of Hindsville; and six grandchildren, Tyler Vanhook and wife, Lindsey, Andrew Vanhook and wife, Lauren, Haley Vanhook, Taylor Vanhook, Matthew Knight and Jacob Knight. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 3074 S. 48th St., Springdale, AR 72762. The family wishes to thank the staff of Shiloh Nursing and Rehab for the care and compassion they gave Maudie during the final weeks of her life. Arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home.
