Olivette 'Ollie' Podszus

Olivette "Ollie" Podszus, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Circle of Life Legacy in Bentonville. She was born on Dec. 23, 1920, in Ranger, Texas, the daughter of James Frederick England and Frieda England. She was raised in Marceline, Mo., and attended Park College, Parkville, Mo., for two years and Sarachon Hooley Business School in Kansas City, Mo., before pursuing an executive secretarial career in the greater Kansas City area for 20 some years. She married Hans Podszus on Sept. 1, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., and they retired and moved to Bella Vista from Overland Park, Kan., in October 1979. They were happily married for 60 years before Hans died June 4, 2011. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and active in its choir and activities; past president and vice president of the Bella Vista Women's Chorus; former member of the Women's 9-Hole Golf Association and Women's Club. She enjoyed travel, singing, gardening, bridge and various arts and crafts. She is survived by a stepson, A. John Podszus of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister, Viola Richards of Lenexa, Kan.; a brother, Eugene England of Caldwell, Idaho; several nieces, a nephew and other beloved related by marriage. No services are planned. Cremation was by Bella Vista Funeral Home and committal to United Lutheran Church Columbarium, Bella Vista, Ark.
