Kenneth "Kenny" Cyr Sr., awesome father, husband and friend to many, "got the hell outta Dodge" on March 25, 2013, at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Ark., aged to perfection at 24,097 days. Kenny was born on April 4, 1947, in Webster, Mass. He served in the United States Army where he was a Tunnel Rat in the Vietnam War. He received two Purple Hearts and numerous other awards during his service. He held various jobs throughout his life and retired as a landscaper, a job he never intended to work at until someone told him he would never succeed. And succeed he did; no one was going to ever tell him he couldn't do something. He spent his retirement mowing his yard and watching Westerns. Kenny will always be remembered for his smile, his attitude, his hard work and an immense love for his family. If you ever met him, you remembered him. He made sure of that. He is survived by his wife, Natalie Cyr; and five children, Wendie Green, Stacie Johnson, Kenneth Cyr Jr., Nicole Spoor and Kimberly Cyr Calhoun; as well as a brother, Paul Cyr; 11 grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul F. Cyr; and a brother, William J. Cyr. A memorial service will be held at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale, Ark., on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 3 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Powerhouse Seafood & Grill in Fayetteville, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter or the Seven Hills Homeless Center/DENOVO program for veterans.
