C. Dale Pope, age 73, of Merritt Island, Fla. formerly of Warren, Ark. died Friday, March 15, 2013. He was born April 10, 1939 in Vick, Ark. a son of the late Carl B. Pope and Maysell Smith Pope. He received his education in the Warren Public School System, held a industrial engineering degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. He joined NASA in 1965 at the Kennedy Space Center with the Apollo program. Retiring in 1997 he volunteered with NASA as a VIP escort for launches and landings. For four years he was assigned to the FBI. Dale enjoyed surfing, fishing and scuba diving. He loved travel, gardening, history and antique guns. Survivors include companion, Suzanne Baker, Merritt Island, Fla.; a sister, Mary Gann, Little Rock, Ark.; two nephews, Randy Williams, Conway, Ark. and Stephen Dale Gann and spouse Judith, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; niece, Libby Williams Baxley and spouse Roy, Sheridan, Ark.; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
