Evelyn Ruth Thomas, age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 8, 2013. She was born July 21, 1928, in Rankin County, Miss., to Earl and Ruth French. She graduated from Byram High School and the School of Nursing at the Baptist Hospital. Evelyn married Johnnie Thomas in 1952 and made their home in Greenville, Miss., where they lived for over 20 years. She also lived in Springdale, Ark., for 22 years before moving to Midlothian, Texas, in 2006. She was always willing to help somebody who was sick and very well-loved by her caretakers. Everybody always had good things to say about Evelyn. She loved her husband a lot and took care of him for 20 years when he had Parkinson's. She is survived by her brothers, James French of Byram, Miss., and David and wife, Chris of Morton, Miss.; her sons, John Thomas III and wife, Siew of Campbell, Calif., and Wayne Thomas and wife, Lora of Midlothian; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie G. Thomas Jr.; and her brother Lewis French. Graveside services will be 10:15 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
