Dolores "Dee" Norton

Dolores Mae "Dee" (Nielsen) Norton died Feb. 27, 2013, at Jamestown Rehab and Nursing Center in Rogers, Arkansas. She was born near Avoca, Iowa, on Sept. 7, 1931, to Harry A. and Clara A. (Jacobsen) Nielsen. She graduated with the class of 1949 at Walnut Iowa High School. On May 13, 1951, she married Earl Norton Jr. Two daughters were born to this union, Ruth Ann and Debra Kay. Dee was a volunteer and member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers, Ark. While living in Macedonia she was secretary to the elementary principal. In Rogers and Bentonville she worked in the medical field. Dee enjoyed being a homemaker until her health prevented it. She loved to do craft things and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother Clarence M. Nielsen. Survivors include her husband, Earl Norton Jr.; daughters, Ruth Ann Trembley (Frank) of Peachtree City, Ga., Debra Kay Sweeten of Rogers; brothers, Richard Nielsen of Redfield, Iowa, and Earl (Claudia) Nielsen of Adel, Iowa; a sister, Elsie Jane Tiggemann of Waukee, Iowa; five grandchildren, Christina (Scott) Rogers of Marietta, Ga., Carrie Davis of Redlands, Calif., Ryan Davis of Athens, Ga., Holly Killbreth (James) of Gravette, Ark., and Jona Sweeten of Rogers, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, Zach and Tracy Ann Deatherage and Hayden Killbreth of Gravette, Ark., Emerson and Evan Rogers of Marietta, Ga.; two stepgrandsons and three stepgreat-granddaughters. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Peace Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 805 W. Olrich, Rogers, AR 72756 Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
