Billy Charles Smith

Billy Charles Smith, 70, of Fayetteville passed away on Feb. 27, 2013, at Washington Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 9, 1942, in the Whitehouse Community to Audie and Clarsey Richardson Smith. He served our country in the U.S Army for four years, spending two years in Alaska. Upon returning, he began his career as a veterinarian assistant. He loved his job and continued this profession until retiring at age 64. There was no greater love than his family. He loved family vacations and traveling. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Smitty Smith; and brother-in-law, Don Kilpatrick. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Janet Smith of the home; son, Russell Smith and wife, Meg, of Elkins; daughter, Becky Litwin and husband, Rick, of Buffalo, N.Y.; cherished grandchildren, Baylie Smith of Elkins and Ryan Litwin of Buffalo, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Joyce Starr of Springdale, Ruth Kilpatrick of Fayetteville and Francia Smith of Elkins; lifetime friends, Carl and Ola Mae Richardson of the Whitehouse Community; and several nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Beards Funeral Chapel 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, with the Rev. Ray Shackelford officiating. Private burial will be at Whitehouse Cemetery at a later date.
