Alex Eugene Willis

Alex Eugene Willis, age 77, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Feb. 28, 2013, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Ark. Born Jan. 10, 1936, in Sparkman, Ark., he was the son of Alex Willis and Alice Zola Jones Willis. He married Leila Hufford Devor on April 26, 1991. Alex was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Tyson Printing, and had worked at the Northwest Arkansas Times and the University of Arkansas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; two half-sisters; and one grandson, Stephen Willis. Survivors include his wife, Leila Willis of the home; one son, Jim Willis of Siloam Springs; one stepson, Terry Devor and wife, Shari, of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Marcia Overby and husband, Bill, of Fayetteville, and Theresa Farrar and husband, Danny, of Springdale, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Brenda Comer and husband, Kenneth, of Siloam Springs; three grandsons, Hank Overby of Fayetteville, Austin Willis of Little Rock, Ark., and Tyler Farrar of Fayetteville; one step-grandson, Gary Comer of Siloam Springs; four step-granddaughters, Chandle Carpenter of Little Rock, P.J. Derwin of Siloam Springs, Christy Chacon of Little Rock and Kim Waring of Harrison, Ark.; four great-grandsons, Ashur Derwin and Jed Derwin of Siloam Springs, Cannon Carpenter of Little Rock and Brycen Warren of Harrison; four great-granddaughters, Isabella Derwin, Joanna Derwin, Orien Comer, all of Siloam Springs, and Brook Warren of Harrison; and four half-sisters. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, Ark., with Dr. Steve Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Ark.
