Howard Eugene Jones, 81, of Lincoln, Ark., formerly of Mount Vernon, Ill., died at 8:53 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1932, at Mount Vernon, Ill., to Howard Edgar and Ora (Beamon) Jones. He married Beverly Evans on May 5, 1962, in Streator, Illinois. They were married for 51 years. Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at Sursa Cemetery in Jefferson County, Ill., with the Rev. John Ashby. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ill. Interment will be at Sursa Cemetery in Jefferson County, Ill. Members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct tull military honors at the cemetery. Survivors include wife, Beverly Jones of Lincoln, Ark.; two sons, Jeff Jones and wife, Jeannie, of Granbury, Texas, William "Bill" Jones and wife, Beth, of Geneva, Ill.; two daughters, Cindy Samuel and special friend, John Tarnowski, of St. Charles, Ill., Michelle Ford of Fayetteville, Ark.; stepson, Michael Baker and wife, Judy, of Gig Harbor, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Christina, Michael, and Rachel Ford of Rockford, Ill., Heather Jones of Lakewood, Colo., Joshua Jones of Geneva, Ill., Madelyn Jones of Geneva, Ill., Christy Marriner and husband, Joel, of Greeley, Colo., Shane Buxman of Oxnard, Calif., and Michelle Baker of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two great-grandchildren, Makena and Madisyn Drake of Greeley, Colo.; two brothers, Herbert Jones of Paragould, Ark., Jerry Jones of Illinois; sister, Pat Gyure of Beardstown, Ill.; several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents and one brother, Jackie Jones, preceded him in death Howard served our country in the United States Air Force in the Korean conflict. He worked as a Draftsman for Burgess-Norton Mfg. Co. in Geneva, Illinois where he retired. Howard was a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers.
