Jerry Lee Thomas, 70, of War Eagle, Ark., died June 12, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1942, at Clifty, Ark., the son of Doe and Iona Luck Thomas. Iona later married Ernie Vaughan, who raised Jerry. Jerry worked as a tool-and-die maker for TRW for 25 years and was also a full-time farmer, raising cattle and breeder hens. Jerry served four years in the United States Army and was a Protestant. His interests were his family, especially his grandchildren, his farming and his daily trips to the Clifty Store for coffee with his buddies. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, and two sisters, Willie Kirkland and Bonita Thomas. Survivors include: his loving wife of almost 41 years, Letrica Hegwood Thomas, of the home; two sons, Luke Thomas and wife, Kim and David Thomas, and six grandchildren, Katie, Caleb, Hunter, Matthew, Maddie and Aaron, all of War Eagle, Ark.; two brothers, James Thomas and wife, Nancy of Golden City, Mo., and Brett Vaughan and wife, Carol, of Rogers, Ark.; special friends, Curtis and Debbie Creek of Springdale, Ark.; several nephews and nieces and a host of dear friends and other family members. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home, with The Rev. Pamela Cicioni officiating. Interment will be in the War Eagle Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be: Dewey Thomas, Doug Salzman, Bill Ralph, Jim Pitts, Tracy Hays and Cody Hays. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Brashears. Memorials by be made to Circle of Life Hospice or The American Cancer Society. Special thanks for all visits, cards, other kind acts and the care of Circle of Life Hospice.
