Robert Lavern Snodgrass

Robert Lavern Snodgrass, 78, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on June 9, 2013, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Adrian, Mo., to Vern Wilbur Snodgrass and Lora Vernice Buchanan Snodgrass. In order for his father to find work, the family moved several times until settling down in Raytown, Mo. After graduating from Raytown High School, he entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, he entered the University of Missouri and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Western Electric Company in Lee's Summit, Mo. He moved to Southern California in 1969, and he and his wife of 43 years, Joy Lynne Dutton, were married in Las Vegas, Nev. He spent the remainder of his career in the aerospace industry in Southern California and Florida. He retired in 1995 and they spent the next three-and-a-half years traveling the United States in a motorhome. They retired in Bella Vista where they built a home in 1998. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Bud Boys, The Foozlers (Struts) and the Oh-Nos. He had a passion for golf, and one of the highlights was scoring a hole-in-one on March 22, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lois Snodgrass. He is survived by his wife, Lynne; two sons by a previous marriage, Kevin M. Snodgrass of San Jose, Calif., and Kirk Snodgrass of Raytown; and three grandchildren, Kacey, Corey and Alex. There will be no memorial service but a Celebration of Life is being planned. Memorials may be given in his name to the Circle of Life Hospice, 1291 N.E. Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, AR 72712.
