James 'Jim' L. Short

James "Jim" L. Short, 64, of Seligman, Mo., passed away June 4, 2013. He was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, April 11, 1949, to Ivan and Norma Jean Short. James was a Jack-of-all-trades; he worked 14 years for Glad Manufacturing Company, 15-plus years with Landstar Trucking Company, where he became a "Million Mile Driver." Jim served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1969. Jim loved riding motorcycles with his sons and fishing with Charlie. He was an extraordinary person, a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he was very giving, never met a stranger and was always looking out for others. Jim was preceded in death by his father; first wife, Jacqueline Short; and two grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Diana Short; mother, Norma Jean (Wise) O'Brock; children, Eddie Short and wife, Kathy, of Rogers, Lee Short and wife, Jennifer, of Deep River, Iowa, Travis Short and wife, Tiffany, of Attalla, Ala., Troy Short and wife, Kari, of Seligman, Mo., Jennifer Stevenson and husband, Alan, of Burlington, Iowa, Jason Jones and wife, Ashlee, of Seligman; brothers, Marion Short of Burlington, Iowa, Kenny Short of Seligman, Jeff Davis of Iowa; sisters, Karen Betchel and Betty Baker, both of Seligman; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home chapel in Rogers. A reception will follow at Seligman city hall.
