Milton Darel Thompson

Milton Darel "Milt" Thompson, 88, of Alabam, Ark., died July 28, 2013, at Countryside Retirement Center in Huntsville, Ark. He was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Qualls, Okla., the son of Allie Fields and Martha "Mattie" Faddis Thompson. He was a retired rural letter carrier, farmer and veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Presley Chapel United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 57-year member and senior past master of Huntsville Lodge #364, Free and Accepted Masons. He had served on the boards of the Forum-Alabam Fire Department and Madison County Conservation District. Survivors include his wife, Jean Owens Thompson of the home; one brother, Olen Thompson of Kamus, Utah; two sisters, Lillian Cookson and Ireva Winter, both of Huntsville, Ark.; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home, with Charles Berry, eulogist, and the Rev. Rob Ernest officiating, and Masonic Rites by Huntsville Lodge #364, Free and Accepted Masons. Interment will be in the Alabam Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be Rick Gurley, Brent Gurley, Mike Thorpe, Kenny Thompson, Dwain Thompson and Shelby Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Gurley, Howard McLoud, Ronnie Sloan, Bill Smith, Bernard Baker, Danny Miller, Elmer Faddis, Jim Owens, Glenn Frick, Mike Houston, Brad Owens, Brent Owens and Jerry Elmore.
