Virgie Mills Skaggs

Virgie Mills Skaggs, 95, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at a local health care center. She was born July 15, 1918, in Miami, Okla., the daughter of Walter Turner and Isabell Vaughn Hines, but was raised in Kansas City, Mo., where she attended school and worked until she married John R. Mills Jr. on Aug. 9, 1943. Before moving to Rogers, Ark., they lived in Long Jack, Mo., Branson, Mo., Florida where they built a house, and Iowa. After moving to Rogers, John passed away in 1991. On April 5 1993, Virgie and Al Skaggs were married; they enjoyed camping with the Lazy Beavers Camping Group and taking hikes around Rogers and the state of Arkansas, until his death on Aug. 2, 2011. Virgie was preceded in death by her mother; three sisters; a daughter; her husband, John; and her second husband, Al; and one step-granddaughter. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Joanne (John) Foley of Iowa; two step-granddaughters, six step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren. Also she is survived by Al's two daughters, Vicki Estes and Micki (Larry) Kenner of Ark.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
