JACK LEROY STILES, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at First Health Hospice House, Pinehurst, N.C. Jack was born Dec. 12, 1932 in Little Rock to the late Lois Marie Thompson and Thomas Martin Stiles. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-56 as a Chaplain's Assistant in Guam. Jack graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 1960. He also received the AIA Scholarship and the Henry Adams Award of Excellence for his work in Architecture. Retiring from a long career as an architect, he and his wife moved to the Southern Pines area in 2007. He loved the game of golf and was a volunteer for the US Open in 1999 and was looking forward to volunteering at the 2014 US Open in Pinehurst. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Goodson Stiles; sons, Jack Brent Stiles (Cindy) of Woodruff, S.C., Roy Keith Stiles (Monica) of Franklin, Tenn., Lee Kermit Stiles of Hot Springs, Ark., Joel Alan Stiles (Lisa) of Woodruff, S.C. and Bryan Wilson Hargett of Benton, Ark.; daughters, Teresa Hargett Johnson (Daniel) of Rosedale, Calif. and Jaclyn Leah Stiles Womack (Shaun) of Pinehurst; brother, Thomas Marvin Stiles (Dolores) of Newport News, Va.; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211 (501) 224-8300 with interment at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Maumelle, Ark. Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 at 6-8 p.m. at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. The family welcomes flowers in his honor.
