Richard L. Bratcher, age 55, of Springdale, Ark., died Wednesday July 10, 2013, in Springdale. Richard was born Jan. 14, 1958, in Las Cruces, N.M., to Leo and Ruby (Hobbs) Bratcher. He is survived by his parents of Heber Springs, Ark.; his loving wife, Lynn (Kelley) Bratcher of the home; one son, Trenton Bratcher and wife Naomi of Springdale; two brothers, Jerry Bratcher of Springdale, Ark., and David Bratcher of Heber Springs, Ark.; two stepchildren, seven grandchildren, a host of great friends, and his military brothers. Richard was a proud member of the Army National Guard for 24 years before retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He served in Desert Storm with the Battery B, 1st Battalion, 142nd Field Artillery Brigade and received a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement as well as The Army Achievement Medal. His son Trent, his military service, and his grandchildren were among the things that he was most proud of. Richard will always be remembered for his big personality, wild imagination, vivid story telling and ability to make everyone smile and laugh. Richard loved to give his friends and family special nicknames, which will always be remembered. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, from 2-4 p.m. at Westfield Chapel Funeral Home, Springdale, Ark. Services will be held on Monday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Westfield Chapel with the Rev. Brian Timmons officiating.
