Randall Guy Dixon was born in Miami, Ariz., on July 5, 1966, and died July 8, 2013, at the age of 47 from complications of juvenile diabetes (Type 1). He attended Maryvale High School in Phoenix, Ariz., where he excelled in JROTC when he was awarded Expert Marksman along with many other honors. He gave his life to the Lord and attended Christ United Methodist Church and was very active in the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. After high school, he received a technical degree in electronics while working two jobs. His kidneys failed due to diabetes and he was deathly ill, but received a kidney transplant from a deceased donor on Oct. 29, 1991, which gave him more than 21 years more life. His family named the kidney "Maynard" and it received cards and presents on the transplant anniversary each year thereafter. From there, he became very strong, regained most of his eyesight, and received a bachelor's degree in computer systems engineering. His first professional job was in Lewisville, Texas, next in Tucson, Ariz., and his last job was in Scottsdale, Ariz., at General Dynamics, where he worked on various military defense projects. He courageously fought chronic illnesses for most of his life; but, no one ever witnessed him complain of the pain, because he knew that this was his temporary home and that he was going to heaven after he died. God promises his believers that they will dwell with him for eternity and will have new bodies. Isaiah 35:3-5. 3 Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; 4 say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you." 5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Survivors include his wife, Amy Dixon of Oklahoma City; his parents, Benjamin and Virginia Brent of Prairie Grove; sister, Robyn Bell of Goodyear, Ariz.; brother, Richard Dixon of Prairie Grove; brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin Jr., and Becky Brent and their son, Devan Brooks of Newcastle, Okla.; niece, Jessica Bell and her son, Christian Bell of Goodyear, Ariz.; and his assistance dog, "Duke." The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove.
