John Dill

Gary "John" Dill of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the age of 62 years after his battle with ALS. He was born Oct. 22, 1950, in Fullerton, Calif., to parents Hugh W. Dill and Kathryn (McDougal) Dill. He is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Kathryn Dill of Fayetteville; son, Ryan Dill and wife, Sagely and grandsons, Jackson and Keegon Dill of Joplin, Mo.; son, Evan Dill and wife, Natalie of Fayetteville; and sister, Brenda Nelson and husband, Larry of Mountain Home, Ark. John served in the Vietnam war in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1972 and retired from the Fayetteville Fire Department as battalion chief after more than 20 years of service. He was a charter member of the Fayetteville Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 2866. Visitation for John will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, Ark.
