David Lee Shields, 74, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died July 6, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, Ark. Born Dec. 3, 1938, in Reeds, Mo., he was the son of David Monroe Shields and Clara Shields Cramer. He was a lifetime resident of Arkansas and lived in Gravette for many years prior to moving to Siloam Springs. He was a farmer and raised livestock and chickens. David was active in Northwest Arkansas chapters of AA, celebrating 42 years of continuous sobriety, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and prospecting. He was a member of the Berean Ministries in Gravette, Ark. He was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Shields Jr.; a brother, Grover "Topper" Shields; and one sister, Hazel Wanbaugh. Survivors include one son, Derwin Shields of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Deatria "DeeDee" Shields of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Denise Moren and husband, Nick, of Siloam Springs; two grandsons, Nathan Warner and David Lee "Trae" Shields III; eight granddaughters, Sarah Warner, Emily Woolson, Elizabeth Woolson, Lauren Woolson, Paige Perry, and Myah Moren, Bailey Moren and Kylie Moren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Blair of Siloam Springs and Mary Cramer Wright of Golden, Colo.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Ark., with Mr. Kim Hendren officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gravette, Ark. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
