Dolores M. Pickard, 84, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on Friday July 5, 2013. She was born on June 16, 1929, in Belt, Mont. She was the daughter of Leonard and Elva King. Mrs. Pickard was raised on a cattle ranch in Montana which was originally settled by her grandparents in the late 1890s. She was married 57 years to John Pickard, a career soldier, following him to duty stations across the country and overseas. They settled in Pine Bluff, Ark., where they both were active members of Watson Chapel Baptist Church for over 35 years. Mrs. Pickard served her community as a member of many civic groups including the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Christian Women, the Garden Club and the local Election Commission. She retired as bookkeeper from the Arkansas Power and Light Credit Union. She became interested in antique glass and enjoyed going to auctions across the state. Mrs. Pickard loved the Lord and was a long-time Baptist. At the time of her passing, she was president of her Sunday school class and has many wonderful and loving friends in the Love One Another class of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. She was also a board member of the Fayetteville/Springdale Christian Women's Group. She and her husband moved to Fayetteville in 2003 to be near their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Pickard and five siblings. She is survived by her children Dr. Rita Officer and her husband Larry Delashmit of Fayetteville, Dr. Dennis and Nancy Officer of Fayetteville, grandchildren Katherine Kinsel and Ryan Kinsel, Lexington, Kentucky and Stewart Officer of Fayetteville, stepgrandchild Cathy Delashmit of New York, N.Y., sister-in-law Winnie Semon of Orlando, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Willard Walker Hospice Home and Walnut Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and compassionate care of our mother during her illness. Box 1324 Fayetteville, AR 72702. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. A funeral service will follow at 9:45 a.m. with Dr. Douglas Falknor officiating.
