Vivian Arlene Wait

Vivian Arlene Wait died on Jan. 28, 2013, in Rogers Ark. She was born in Pocahontas, Iowa, in 1921, the daughter of Charles Battershell and Belle Trenary Battershell. She grew up in Pocahontas, where as a young lady, she helped her folks run grocery stores and a bakery. She attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, where she graduated with an associate of music degree. She taught high school music, including both vocal and instrumental at public schools in Gilmore City and Manly, Iowa, and Streator, Ill. She married Dr. Edwin Wait at Pocahontas, Iowa, in 1944. He was a dentist in the Army Dental Corps, and she ran a business machine in the PX until his discharge in 1946 when they moved to Streator, Ill., to establish a dental practice. Dr. Ed and Arlene both had a passion for music and performances, including both listening to and playing the organ. They both loved water sports, sailing and skiing. Arlene and Ed moved to Rogers in 1972 where he practiced dentistry until 1986. They were both very active in the Methodist church in Streator, and the Disciples church in Rogers. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ed Wait of Rogers; son, Dr. Charles Wait and wife, Carolyn, of Scottsdale Ariz.; daughter, Janet Wait Nylund of Dallas Texas, and daughter, Julie Wait Fryauf and husband, Mark, of Rogers; grandchildren are Dr. Laura Baron and husband, David, Dr. Melissa DeMore and husband, Mike, Dr. Ryan Wait and Brandon Wait of Scottsdale Ariz., Dr. Justin Nylund of Taos, N.M., Jon Nylund of Dallas Texas, and David, Matthew and Luke Fryauf of Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Natalie and Samuel Baron. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church, 13th and Oak St., Rogers, Ark. The Rev. Shawn Wallace and the Rev. Ronny Nowell officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Rogers; or the Circle of Life Hospice. Private burial will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
