Marlene K. Dye... Lewis

Marlene K. Dye… Lewis was welcomed into heaven by the loving arms of Jesus and her mother Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, after years fight with cancer. She was born in Rogers, Sept. 12, 1961, to the late Carroll W. and Judy M. Dye. She married her soul-mate, Dennis Lewis, Aug. 15, 1986, in Garfield. To this Holy union was born Casiah Jewell Dye Lewis. She survives with her father of the home. Also surviving are stepdaughters, Denise Coots of Carl Junction, Mo.; Rahnee Lewis of San Diego, Calif., and Sara Carroll of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a stepson, Jacob Lewis of Avoca. Marlene graduated Rogers High School in 1978 with honors. She graduated from the University of Arkansas (also with honors) with a bachelor's degree in education in 1984; she received a masters in 1986. She realized her dream of becoming a teacher at Garfield Elementary (the same school she attended as a little girl.) She taught kindergarten and first grade 28 years, all at Garfield. She fell in love and gave the best of herself to hundreds of children. She also fell in love with the Garfield School staff and considered them among her dearest friends. Family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, from 4 to 6 at the Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Immanuel Baptist church on South 26th Street, Rogers. Rev. Dr. Thomas Hatley and the Rev. Bruce Love will be officiating. Pallbearers will be J.L. Wright, Steve Dirks, Bobby Vaughn, Jonathan Mwaba, Terry Saunders and Tim Johnson. Marlene will most be remembered for her sweetness.
