Lois Boult

Lois Boult went to be with her Savior on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark. Lois was 104 years old. She was born in Hartford, Ark., Nov. 17, 1908, to Lee and Maude Harris. She graduated from high school in Hartshorne, Okla. She was a homemaker for years. After her husband, Lawrence, died, she worked for the Oklahoma State Employment Office in Oklahoma City in the claims department retiring after 17 years in 1973. She later moved to Russellville, Ark., to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 1990. Lois' father was a coal miner, raising his lively family in the Hartshorne, Okla., area. Lois was a strong basketball guard in high school, although she was only about 4' 8" and 97 pounds. She was aggressive and won the title of Oklahoma All-State Guard. She enjoyed growing up in this small town with her family and had many treasured memories. She met and married her husband, Lawrence Boult, in Hartshorne in 1934. They lived in Eastern Oklahoma until 1947, when they moved to Oklahoma City with their 12-year-old daughter, Phyllis. Lois loved crocheting and knitting plus many other hobbies, including baking and cooking. Being a homemaker was what she loved best. While in Oklahoma City, she became a member of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter of Oklahoma (Nareme Chapter #373) and was a 50-year plus member. She also was a former member of the Linwood Methodist Church and the retirement organization for the Oklahoma Employment Service. Since moving to Fayetteville, Ark., in 1998 with her daughter and son-in-law she had joined Central United Methodist Church. Lois is survived by her daughter, Phyllis, and son-in-law, Terry Collier, of Greenland, Ark.; her two grandchildren, Debra and her husband, Bruce Johanson, of Fayetteville, Ark., James Kelly and his wife, Lori Collier, of Fayetteville, Ark.; two great-grandsons, Grant Johanson and his wife, Sarah, of Dallas, Texas, and Matthew Johanson of Nashville, Tenn.; and her many wonderful nieces and nephews that she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Boult; her parents, Maude and Lee Harris; two young infant brothers; brother, Jim Harris; three sisters, Evannoa Hall, Ruth Bankey and Maudean Inman. Lois' family will always remember her caring nature and the fun times that she had with all her family members. She loved making afghans and many beautiful delicate pieces of crochet work through the years. She will be a joy in their hearts forever. Her love for her Lord always shone brightly in her life and he was her anchor in all things. During the last three years of Lois' life, she had several compassionate caregivers, nurses and physicians that supported her daughter for her care. She truly enjoyed each one of them and their care was invaluable. The family would also like to say a special thank you to all the staff at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Central United Methodist Church, 6 W. Dickson St., Fayetteville, Ark., with the Rev. J. Anthony Holifield officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Jan. 15, 2013, at 2 p.m., Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Okla. All arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Chapel Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ark. Pallbearers are Kelly Collier, Bruce Johanson, Grant Johanson, Matthew Johanson, Blair Johanson and Sam Ross. Memorials may be sent to Central United Methodist Church, 6 W.
