Leona Belle Rizley Lane

Leona Bell Rizley Lane, 94, of Springdale, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She battled Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for the last 12 years. She was born May 9, 1918, in Pittsburg, Kan., to William Frank and Martha Delaney Whittle Rizley. Leona was devoted to the care of her family. She enjoyed embroidery, sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn Jane; three sons-in-law, Charles Harner, Gerald Courtney and Glenn Tedford; three sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by three daughters, Levita Harner and Sharleen Thomas, both of Springdale, and Deonn Courtney of Fayetteville; four sons, Richard Lane and wife, Carol, Danny Lane and wife, Betty, Ira Lane and wife, Janice Kay and Lonnie Lane and wife, Sharon, all of Springdale; one sister, Lorene Beth of Hood River, Ore.; one sister-in-law, Lucille Rizley of Springdale; 19 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Gospel Tabernacle in Bethel Heights. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home; online guest book at heritageofnwa.com. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at The Maples, Highlands Oncology, and Dr. Gregory Oakhill, who took such loving care of our mother and grandmother.
