Velva Ruth Shane-Holt

Velva Ruth Shane-Holt, 97, of Bentonville, passed away Saturday morning Feb. 16, 2013, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab. She was born Aug. 21, 1915, in De Queen, Ark., to Charles and Daisy McKinney White. Velva loved spending time with her family. She was an avid Razorback fan, and loved gardening as well. She was a member at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Deward Shane; second husband, Dan Holt; one daughter, Sandy Holt; one son, Warren Holt; and one brother, Alvis White. Velva is survived by two daughters, Janie Dickinson and husband, Rodger of Bentonville, Ark., and Oza Heckman of Grapevine, Texas; one brother, Joe White and wife, Joy of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Mary Holt of San Clemente, Calif.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Pinecrest Cemetery in Mena, Ark. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Bentonville Benevolence Fund, 201 N.W. 2nd St., Bentonville, AR 72712.
