Elizabeth Hortense Rogers

Elizabeth "Peggy" Hortense Slaughter Rogers, 96, of Rogers, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Bradford House Nursing Home in Bentonville. She was born in Moro, Ark., on July 6, 1915, to William Lafayette Slaughter and Agnes Belle Bennett Slaughter. She graduated from Little Rock High School (now Little Rock Central) in 1935 and from St. Vincent Infirmary as a registered nurse in 1938. She practiced as a registered nurse in a physician's office, a U.S. Army hospital, the Veteran's Administration, and as a volunteer nurse at Watson Chapel High School in Pine Bluff, where she resided for over 40 years. She married Hiluard G. Rogers of Little Rock in New Orleans in 1944; he died in 1989. She was also predeceased by four sisters and brother. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Rogers Moeckel of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Hiluard G. "Buddy" Rogers Jr., and daughter-in-law, Brenda Eden Rogers of Rogers; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, to whom she gave unconditional love and support all their lives. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Rogers. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers with interment in Rogers City Cemetery.
