Conley Gilmore Kuehl

Conley Gilmore Kuehl, 87, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the Circle of Life Hospice Center in Bentonville, Ark., surrounded by his children. He was born in Nobles County, Minn., to William and Clara (Gehl) Kuehl. After high school, he worked the family farm until entering the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. On Sept. 28, 1952, after completing his military service, Conley married Violet Ihnen in Fulda, Minn. During the next 30 years, they raised four children while Conley served in law enforcement, first as a policeman and then as a Minnesota state patrolman while residing in Austin, Minn. Conley and "Vi" retired and moved to Bella Vista in 1987. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing bridge, golf and especially being with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Violet Kuehl; his parents, William and Clara Kuehl; his sister, Alita Oltmans; and his granddaughter, Megan. Conley is survived by his four children, Kurt Kuehl and his wife, Marlene, of Ketchikan, Alaska, Kent Kuehl of Los Angeles, Calif., Kandace Kuehl-Dannenberg and her husband, Dr. Bernard, of Half Moon Bay, Calif., and Bruce Kuehl of Bloomington, Minn.; grandchildren, Kristen Kuehl and her husband, David Christal, Erin Kuehl, Max Dannenberg and Renee Dannenberg; sister, Joyce Cuperus of Fulda, Minn.; and brother, Gary Kuehl of Worthington, Minn. Conley had a great sense of humor and touched our hearts with his kindness, exceptional integrity and respect for everyone. He will be missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Circle of Life Hospice Care, Highland Health Care, Pastor Darrel Johnson and Conley's Shepard Group at United Lutheran Church for their loving care, prayers and support. A memorial service for Conley will be held at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, Ark., on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life memorial service will also be held in Minneapolis, Minn., with internment at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. on July 1, 2013.
