Mary Therese Gallagher

Mary Therese (Walsh) Gallagher, 77, of Bella Vista, Ark., and formerly of Lincoln, Neb., and Chicago, Ill., died Dec. 28, 2013, following a stroke Christmas week. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas P. Gallagher, who died in 2010; and her infant daughter, Mary Therese, who died in 1970. She is survived by daughters, Peg (Tom) Magnuson of Lincoln, Neb.; Patti (Doug) Newberry of Cincinnati; Kate Gallagher (Mark Spognardi) of Chicago; and son, Tom (Kristi Frahm) of Denver. Survivors also include grandchildren, Riley Magnuson; Frances, A.J. and Beatrice Newberry; Brendan, Patrick and Maura Ford; and Connor and Lucy Gallagher. She is also survived by sister, Peg Keane, sisters-in-law, Anna Mae McCormick, Rosemarie Gallagher, Winifred Frain, and brothers-in-law, John (Joanne) Gallagher and Bill Haggerty; and many nieces and nephews, most in the Chicago area. Chicago natives, Mary and Tom raised their family in Lincoln before retiring to Bella Vista in 1992 to a life of golf, dinners out and travel. Mary was a devoted, ever-cheerful and helpful wife and mother, known for her quick wit and positive outlook. Funeral mass, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at St. Bernard's in Bella Vista, with rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society.
