Emmett B. Howard

Emmett B. Howard, 89, a resident of Tahlequah, Okla., passed away Dec. 25, 2013, in Tahlequah Okla. He was born April 5, 1924, at Morrow, Ark., the son of Noah Franklin and Loretta Ann Reed Howard. He married Virginia Finley June 5, 1943, and they were married for 70 years. He was a Southern Baptist. He was a Coxswain 3rd class in the U.S. Navy during WW II, participating in five island invasions: Eniwetok, Marianas, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He retired in California from the Fullerton Union High School District as maintenance foreman. Survivors include his wife Virginia Finley Howard of the home; one son, Larry Gene Howard of Kittery, Maine; two granddaughters; one stepgranddaughter; one great-granddaughter. Funeral Service will be held Dec. 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel Prairie Grove, Ark., with Jack Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, Morrow, Ark.
