William Kirby Harrod

William Kirby Harrod, age 80, of Caldwell, Arkansas, passed away on December 15, 2013 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born July 11, 1933 in Ingalls, Arkansas, and was a naval veteran of the Korean conflict and graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a retired agriculture teacher of 30 years at Warren High School and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Caldwell. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Ofa and Maggie Clanton Harrod and two brothers; J.O. and Fred W. Harrod Sr., and four sisters; Maxine Rowell, Glenda Ferguson, Agnes Pappas, and Lourine Hairston. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irma Geraldine (Gerry) of Caldwell and two sons; Dr. William Brian Harrod (Minden, Louisiana) and Dr. Robert Louis Harrod (Rowlett, Texas) and their spouses (Dr. Ellen Friday Harrod) and Carolyn Harrod, grandchildren Randy and Sabrina Rasor, and one sister, Faye Chandler of Chesapeake, Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Stevens Funeral Home, Forrest City, Arkansas at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Dr. Ricky Ferguson, Jack Pappas, Stephen Rowell, Fred Harrod, Jr., Jay Lindsey, Randy Rasor, Cary B. Lindsey and Phillip Morrow. Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer B. Lindsey, Robert E. Harris, Jr., and First Baptist Church of Caldwell adult men's Sunday School Class. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
