Walter Russell Simpson

Walter Russell Simpson, 73, passed away at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo., Dec. 5, 2013. Walter was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Siloam Springs, Ark., to Roy Simpson and Lettie "Bailey" Simpson. Walter was a resident of Diamond for the past three years and a lifetime resident of Rogers, Ark. He worked as quality control for the past 15 years and retired from Tyson Foods. He was a member of the Diamond Christian Church, Diamond, Mo. Walter was united in marriage to Gayla Youngblood, Nov. 23, 1985, in Rogers, Ark.; she survives. Walter is survived by his wife; four sons, Earcle Simpson and wife, Darla, of Bentonville, Roy Simpson, Rodney Simpson and Myron Sidman of Rogers; two daughters, Michelle Musical and husband, Nick, of Fayetteville, and Lori Rollins of Rogers; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Walter is preceded by his parents; three sisters, Joyce Pollard, Corrine Letter and Nancy Comer; and one brother, Rodney Simpson. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the Diamond Christian Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Diamond Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Diamond Christian Church, in care of Ulmer Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
