Ethel Julia Archibald

Ethel Julia Archibald, age 98, of Springdale, Ark. (formerly of Warren, Ark.) passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born January 6, 1915 in Sherrill, Ark. to Sandiland Archibald and Mary Elizabeth Gregory Archibald. She proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and retired as Sergeant First Class in 1971. She served three years in Japan and 17 months in France and behind the lines in Korea before returning to the United States to finish her Army career. She was a lifetime member of the D.A.V., V.F.W. and a charter member of The Women's Memorial in Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alex, James and Harold Archibald, sisters Alice Bradley and Betty Ruth Covington. She is survived by her nieces, Ruth Beckius, Ruth Ann Davis, Ann Oakley, Connie Houser and Jane Galloway.
