Billy Joe Jones

Mr. Billy Joe Jones, age 78, of Benton, formerly of Forrest City, died Tuesday at his home in Benton. Mr. Jones was born October 20, 1934, in Goodwin, and was the son of Julius Jones and Myrtle French Jones. He farmed when he was younger, managed the John Deere Company in Forrest City, served thirty-two years in the Army National Guard and full time Army at the armory in Forrest City. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Goodwin. Mr. Jones married Carolyn Trout in 1971, and after forty-two years of marriage, she survives him along with one daughter, Janai Kennedy, and husband, Mike, his beloved grandson, Austin Kennedy all of Benton, Arkansas, one son, Timmy Jones of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Raney of Hot Springs. He had two brothers; Stanley Jones and Andrew 'Tink' Jones, one step-son, Bret Raney, who all preceded him in death. Services for Mr. Jones will be held at the Salem United Methodist Church, 11 a.m. Friday, with burial in Salem Cemetery.
