William 'Bill' Leo Pennington

William "Bill" Leo Pennington went to be with Jesus, his Savior, on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. He was at Aultman North Therapy, where he exercised weekly and experienced Ventricular Arrhythmia (high heart beat). He didn't suffer but was gone immediately. He was taken to downtown Aultman and was pronounced dead. He was a native of Siloam Springs, Ark. Bill completed high school and joined the U.S. Navy. After four years in the Navy, he came back to Siloam Springs and attended John Brown University, a Christian college whose founder, John Brown Sr., was from the Salvation Army. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. Bill also was a member of the Arkansas National Guard. He married Wilma Marie Wood, also a graduate of JBU. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 18, 2013. They lived in Bloomington, Ind., for four years while Bill worked at Sarkes Tarzian in quality control, then at Central Coil for six months. He then accepted a job at Diebold Inc. in the Alarm Division Tech Support and retired after 34 years in 2001. Bill grew up in Southern Baptist church in Arkansas and attended the same denomination in Bloomington. When in North Canton, Ohio, he attended Trinity Baptist for 15 years and Cathedral of Life in Canton, Ohio, for 31 years where he served as head usher. He loved to read his Bible, Christian books and "Reader's Digest," playing his guitar, liked nature, listening to sports and sing. Bill was a loving husband. He was diligent and faithful in all ways of life. Honest and devoted, he enjoyed serving the Lord and being with people. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde (in 1982) and Hazel (in 2008) Pennington. Bill is survived by his wife, Wilma; brother-in-law, John Freedman Wood of Springdale, Ark.; brother, Robert (Doris) Pennington of Harrison, Ark.; sister, Betty (Joe) Nevills of Crowder, Okla.; three nephews, Steven Pennington of Conway, Ark., Wayne (Kerri) Nevills of Clovis, Calif., Larry (Larae) Nevills of Plano, Texas; four great-nephews, Zack, Nick, A.J. and Seth Nevills of Clovis, Calif.; two great-nieces, Marissa Nevills of Arlington, Texas, and Catherine Nevills of Plano, Texas; also many cousins, friends, brothers and sisters in the Lord, and mothers of Zion. Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Elm Springs Cemetery, with Louis Thomas officiating, under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
