Richard L. "Dick" Sellon was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on Feb. 13, 1927, to Claude and Mildred Sellon, and passed away Aug. 26, 2013.

Dick graduated from East High School in Sioux City and then served in the U.S. Navy during the latter stages of World War II. He then attended Morningside College where he met his future wife, Dorothy Jean Floyd. They were married in January of 1948 and so celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

Dick spent most of his working years in the credit industry and became a vice president of Iowa's largest bank in Des Moines. He then started and owned an equipment leasing company before retiring to Rogers, Ark., where he started a blueberry farm with his wife. They retired for good in 1995.

Dick was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge #615 in Iowa, past president of the N.W. Arkansas Iowa Club and the N.W. Arkansas Boat Club. He also volunteered at the Senior Wellness Center for several years. Dick and his wife enjoyed boating, traveling throughout the country and their camper van for many years.

Dick was a loving husband and father. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Dick is survived by his wife of the home, Dorothy; a son, Jeffrey Sellon and wife, Vicky, of Centennial, Colo.; two daughters, Kathie Esbeck and husband, Carl, of Columbia, Mo., and Rebecca Merritt and husband, Marty, of Pearland, Texas; two sisters, Jeanne Stevenson of Pinole, Calif., and Margie Ruse and husband, Merle, of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, with the Rev. Carness Vaughan officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry for the Needy at Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Road, Rogers, AR 72758; or the Central United Methodist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
