Our beautiful Vivian LaDelle Bennett (nee Kniffin) passed away Aug. 12, 2013 at 97 wonderful years young. Vivian was affectionately known as "Goosie" to everyone, who instantly fell in love with her. Goosie was born May 6, 1916 in Wilmot, Ark., grew up in Oklahoma as one of 12 children, moved to Orange County, Calif., where she met her true love, James Carroll Bennett of Benton County, Ark., and raised their daughter, Carolyn. She and Carroll retired to their beloved Arkansas and enjoyed the farm life once more in Lowell. Eventually, Vivian came west again to Arizona, where she spent her last happy years in Sun City and then in her granddaughter's home in Scottsdale, near her daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and her great-grandchildren. Goosie was a self-taught master gardener who could make anything grow and thrive, and especially loved her flowers. Vivian also loved her church, long walks in the neighborhood and the company of her great-grandchildren. She now takes her walks in heaven with Jesus at her side. She is predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, James Carroll Bennett, as well as nine brothers and sisters. Vivian is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ron and Carolyn Brock, grandchildren, Kim (Jim) Cooper and Ron Brock Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Bennett, Ryan, Joe, and Caroline Vivian Cooper, and Trey, Isabella and John Brock; two sisters, Evelyn and Elwanda; a sister-in-law, Mabel Bennett Osborn; and many special friends in all areas of her life. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Aug. 26 at Spring Creek Cemetery. Donations in memory of Vivian/Goosie Bennett may be made to Hospice of the Valley at HOV.org.
